*Benjamin who is 6 years old has always had a great love for books...At age 2 he would take books to bed and sleep with them..He is still taking them to bed and reading before falling to sleep...Benjamin is Jody's grandson...he has been giving her stories he has written since he was a little tyke :0).......A while back while visiting he told her he would like to turn his bedroom into a library... She told him someday he would have his own which would hold copies of the books that he would write....Jody made the above One-Of-A Kind work of art for him to put in that library..His very own book sculpture....I am sure his love for books might come some what from his Granny...Besides reading she does amazing things with Altered Books...Jody will be teaching a class on Altered Books in Oct....for more information contact Ivy Tech, Bloomington, In.

Thank you for making me smile today. I will be sure that Benjamin gets to see his story on our blog and be just as proud as I am.
We are a group of women of different personalities and ages who blend together to make for an interesting and fun group. Our group is dedicated to creating art using various textiles and other mediums. Our interests include sewing, knitting, quilting, doll making, purse making, felting, beading, jewelry making, stained glass, glass blowing, glass fusing, mosaics, and altered books. We share our ideas and our time, to create items that are unusual, traditional and fun. Our fun meter is more important than our gas meter. We fill it at least once a month during our monthly meeting where we have show and tell to show projects we've completed, talk about new projects and share ideas. And the food!! As textile artists we are such lucky people. We find pleasure in simple things; the colors of hand-dyed fabrics, a spool of lustrous thread—we almost hyperventilate when we go through the door of a bead store! How fortunate we are to have passion to create and to achieve such satisfaction in what we do.
