Grand Boys Room When They Visit

* As I was snooping around Rhona's house, I entered the grand boys room...Above is the quilts covering their beds...The first one is called Winter Lace...The pattern was in a quilt magazine and Rhona just loved it...She liked the blue snowflake fabric and the white so much she bought 10 yards of each!..shhhh we won't tell Tony...
Next quilt is Hearts and Gizzards..she told me she wasn't crazy about the name.:0)...She said since she had two quilts from the same fabrics, seemed like a logical choice for the boy's room...
Rhona made new curtains with plain white cotton and embroidered lighthouse across the bottom...to go with the lighthouse theme of the boy's room.Yes, you guessed it she embroidery this clock special for the grand boys..
Now I think she bought this but I won't swear to it....I didn't get a picture but the border in this room is lighthouses..of course...The boys have a grand room when they visit Granny....

More Fun Meter Fill Up Meeting

Kathy and Jody conversing with Sherry on one of our projects...All the wine bottles you are seeing in our pictures is for rusting fabric and a bead tree we are going to make sometime...In case you are wondering...:0)
Ah a new tool, Kathy ordered us Chasing Hammers for our beading work...Cindy asked me why I am not in the pic...I am sneaky....I have her holding my hammer for a pic...hehehehe

I read somewhere "A laugh is a smile that bursts" I caught sweet Sherry with smiles all day.....We put her on my sewing machine and she sewed away...Thanks to her and Rhona with their math minds we got a lot done ...What a Fun Group....

Cindy here is a picture of Harold and his buddy....Napping...wore himself out fixing my lunch...giggle giggle

May Fun Meter Fill Up

*
"Jamie's Coconut Cake"....Paula Deans Son's favorite cake...was our favorite Sat...We didn't eat as soon as Cindy T meandered through the door with it....we waited a.....few minutes...hmmmmmm...That is right we had dessert before lunch....We never get our priorities out of order... I know it looks so good makes your mouth water..but take your eyes off the cake and check out the cake stand...Our own Cindy knows how to present a sinfully tempting dessert...And she didn't pay an arm and a leg for it..the cake plate...I mean..But you all wouldn't have known that if I hadn't told you..The lady knows a bargain when she sees one.

We were thrilled Cindy P was able to join us...sorry not a good picture...Cindy is engrossed in doll books the girls brought at Cindy's request to jar her creative juices ...

The fabulous cake maker Cindy waiting for Miss Elder and Rhona to get caught up with the rest of us on our latest project...I think they have a life or some good reason for being behind..Sherry a good girl has her project ready...See the smile that appears to be saying " I follow directions".
Kathy showing off the shoes she has brought for a project that The Elder is doing.....wonder if that was the reason Jody's homework project wasn't complete when she arrived?????Aha Rhona playing catch up... I did speak to Jarad about giving her way to much work and not allowing her time for quilting.....and last but
not least we have
The Elder busily working....even in her twilight years she is a beauty to behold....
We stitched and laughed and a "Good Time" was held by all. The Ol' Blogger

Underground Railroad/Pineapple Log Cabin

Rhona told me that the Quarry Quilters were going to have a workshop on the Underground Railroad Sampler Quilt...She didn't attend the workshop, but since she has always been interested in the Underground Railroad, she went ahead a made the quilt...It is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted.
The Pineapple Log Cabin Quilt...because she didn't believe the fabric requirement that her quilt software was telling her...she made it at 1/4 the size to double check...Yes, the software was correct...hehehehe ..
I will be sharing more of Rhona's quilts...I didn't get pictures of all her quilts...neither of Cindy's, Kathy's...or Sherry's but I have been sharing a few of each....
The SoTA Sisters will be coming to my house this Saturday for our monthly "Fun Meter Fill Up...So the next sewing studio I will be sharing when done with Rhona's, will be mine....Last but never least will be the Elder's studio....

Gifts of Love

Found a beauty hanging in Rhona's front room....The story behind it Rhona tells us " A beautiful wall hanging given to me for my 50Th birthday by our very own Kathy"! Full of hearts so like Kathy full of love....
also there was a hand print made for Mothers Day in 2008 by precious granddaughter Ashley so she will always remember her tiny sweet hands...

Room for more stuff

*
I took these picture in Rhona's sewing studio...Kathy as you can see she still has room for more stuff on this shelf also....Sorry Tony but its true...:0)
As I said earlier these girls are talented....Rhona made this doll at a ceramic class some years back.....I see this doll as a work of art..Although Rhona never said...I believe the doll's beauty has earned her the right to be displayed in a special place in Rhona's studio..

Amulet

Now I am hanging around with the smartest and craftiest women....Sherry did not have a pattern for this Amulet...She saw it in a magazine and decided to make it...A cascade of glass flowers and leaf beads is woven across the front of this treasure....They are all very talented...they just look and know what to do....Not sure why they think I fit...but glad they do....
Wanted to show you how it hangs on the neck....Sherry sorry I cut off part of your head...I was focusing on the Amulet.

" Coffee Classics"

These 4 little mini quilts hanging beside Rhona's dining table recalls the simplicity and charm of America's favorite beverage. She told me "I had an empty wall in my kitchen, so when I saw this pattern I knew exactly where they were going"...Rhona added the small cups to the group for the beautiful composition shown..The series is by McKenna Ryan called "Coffee Classics". Rhona's work is astounding..

Vogue Fabrics

With a little nudge from Cindy I remember..... this is fabric she and Kathy purchased at Vogue Fabrics in Chicago.
This is the red version...We all agreed this is beautiful fabric...would make some outstanding totes...See I do have a memory of our day at Rhona's...just needed a little hint...hehehe
They always go to the Vogue Fabrics when they make this yearly trip...If you enlarge the picture you will see why they wanted this fabric...

Made at Chicago

OK, I found about this one....:0)This was from a class Cindy took in Chicago. These were made with copper and paper...There is a necklace, a pin and she said the other was just extra.... Jody and Kathy took a sampler class and purchased ALL her books. The books are by Mary Hetts on metal weaving, stamping, painting, etc.

Rhona's Fun Day Meter Fill Up Meeting.....

Cindy sharing some of the items she bought while in Chicago..
This is pitiful but I have pictures to share from our day at Rhona's but my mind has drawn a blank....Instead of stressing out I am going to show the girls the pictures and have them tell me what went on while we were there....I must have had too much champagne as all I have been able to give you is her studio and the ribbon cutting...Maybe I am Old Blogger.....

April Fun Meter Fill Up

Waiting on the fun to start...
Sherry and Cindy tasting the appetizers before lunch...
Jody and Kathy having a good laugh....

*
Cindy, Rhona and me....The Elder told Sherry to use my camera and take these pictures...These are not flattering picture of any of us....but.....I put these picture on because The Elder would think I didn't because how awful I looked ....and she terrifies all of us...so we mind her....We had a wonderful day...Tomorrow I will post show and tell from this day....They had some neat things they had gotten on their Chicago trip....

Last of Rhona's Studio

Now how neat can one person be....all her stuff in boxes, baskets, cans and wrapped in plastic....

Just outside of her darling rooms is all her stuff...neatly arranged..Notice she doesn't waste any space...items are even stored in the concrete blocks slots...like the mouse trap...giggle giggle...
She even has a design wall which she can bring into her studio...Her quilting machine when not in use has a storage area outside the studio.....With her pocket doors she has plenty of room for moving items in and out....Truly a dream area...Thanks Rhona for allowing us to be there for the ribbon cutting...

Sewing Studio Warming Gift...

Before we go into the rest of Rhona's basement, pictured above she is opening the sewing studio warming gift the SoTA Sisters got her...
OMG its a steamer...I think she is pleased...Also behind her is more of her cabinets for storage....

Special Treat

If you were to ask Alex and Abbi "what do you do when your grandmother visits?" Their answer would be "We Quilt".....While in Texas visiting her grand babies Cindy let them help her with her labor of love.
*

They took turns.... one sewed the other pressed on the foot pedal....And Granny kept her cool...:0)...Take an extra look at Abbi's face how could you lose it with that precious face smiling at you...
Grandmothers, little girls and sometimes boys have made doll quilts...but not Abbi and Alex....They helped their grandmother make Alex's own bed quilt and curtains pictured above...What an accomplishment and with pocket to keep his treasures in....Thanks Cindy for sharing this memory maker with us....The Ol' Blogger

Rhona's Sewing Studio Three

*
Rhona's sewing tables....her studio is pleasant and spacious as you can see...
Don't you just love the roll away shelves at the end of this sewing area...
Her studio is in the basement..they enclosed a part for the sewing room...Enclosing the post and put electric outlets in each...Ingenious...every quilters dream...plenty of outlets..
an extra cabinet for storage...The lighting is a key element for a basement workroom as we all know....That was taken care of with several in the ceiling lights...I didn't take pic as I am sure we would only get a glare...giggle...but Rhona's lighting is absolutely fabulous...as you can tell by the bright and cheeriness in the pictures....This finishes the sewing studio...tomorrow night I will show you where all her fabric and other goodies are stored....
