Tree of Life

This is gorgeous...Kathy, Cindy, Jody and Sherry each beaded one of these wonderful works of art. Kathy went one step further and made it into a necklace. I can't put it in any better words than Kathy did, " Now it is not on the shelf, it is in the valley"... How does her mind work....hehehe The Ol' Blogger

The Women

How much fun can a group of women have on a Sunday afternoon?

When we first entered the theater the man said " Here to see "The Women"? Not sure how he figured that one out....:<)

We had the whole show to ourselves...we laugh , ate popcorn, and laugh some more...even made a few comments out loud. Really cute movie...No men in it at all..... Now don't get me wrong we all love the men in our life...but this was truly a chick flick...Our next outing will be Oct. 3 The Ol' Blogger

Several years ago a friend of mine bought an Amish Bonnet and Amish Man Hat. She wanted me to make her American homemade Amish dolls. While redoing my sewing room last month I found the hats, oops. She has a birthday this Thursday...So I decided to go for it...After working with her for the last 24 hours...I now know why she should have bought a China made one or had the Amish make her one. Such tiny seams!!! I don't think the pattern was meant to be reduce this much.. But once she was all sewn, I had fun playing with her. I dug in the sack of stuff I had..that Harold has wondered why I was keeping all that trash...Someone else trash, my treasures.:<) She was fun adding the details for her. I made a stand and hid it with all the pieces of leaves and broken flowers. Found a garden hole and a basket...There she is, hand reaching out to give one a basket of flowers.

But I think she will have to wait till next years birthday for the man..hehehe The Ol' Blogger

Road Trip Van

Well we are always ready for a road trip...Jody's van is the way we travel. We are just the right number to fit. The stories this van could tell if it talked.. We have laughed till we cried, laughed so hard we have had to make a pit stop. Discussed the shop we are going to stop at and the one we just left...Solved the worlds and our children's problems...oh why won't they just listen...Bragged about our grandchildren.. Ate at so many wonderful places... Been served by some wonderful and nice looking waiters, hey, looks do help, if the food isn't great you are distracted.:<) This wonderful Van has carried untold amounts of fabric, patterns, beads, doll supplies, etc....I am serious we don't tell. What is spent on a road trip stays with SoTA Van and she ain't telling. The Ol' Blogger

More show and tell

Remember last Aug. 13 was a Fun Meter Fill Up Day. Jody, Kathy, and Cindy discharged fabric..Well pictured below is the vest Kathy is making with fabric she made that day. Can't wait to see the finish project...I didn't get a picture of all the fabric they did..But Oh my gosh it was all beautiful. Cindy had some really neat rusted and painted fabric.. Also while Cindy was laid up she made a darling scrap book of her grandchildren.
My head was spinning with all the ideas shared..
Rhona had a purse she had made that was so professional looking. Zipper pockets and changeable flaps...Sorry I forgot to take a picture..I will try to get her to take one and post for us. Everyone say please, Rhona. She made Ashley some wonderful bibs..Not only do these keep her clothes clean at the top..but they cover the legs and snap on the back..
Now the little picture is Bees and Trees. Kathy did this all with french knots. Click on the picture and you will be able to see all the fine detail. There was lots of ohs and ah's the whole day.
As you can tell by all the postings we were quite busy Friday. There is still more to come.

My Baby Sister, Sherry Dawn and her daughter Whitney went to Paris. My Baby Doll even bought a piece of fabric so I could have a Paris original...I wonder if it was made in China..hehehe While there, they thought about the SoTA Girls and took pictures of fabric shops for us..Which has the girls whining they want a road trip to Paris. One even bought a lottery ticket hoping to win so the trip could happen. I don't think she won as I haven't heard any discussion of flight arrangements. But now they might have been discussing this while I was out doing my bad thingy..They do plan things while I am outside. Imagine that!!!! The Ol' Blogger

One of the ways we raise our fun meter is through show and tell. There is always new items completed by the group. This is our very talented and lovely Sherry wearing the "Florida Sweater" she made...The sweater is made with Sulky Ultra Solvy, fun fur, Sulky cotton threads and bridal netting.. Netting is place between layers of Solvy and the pattern traced on the Solvy..By tracing a 2" grid horizontally and vertically you have your sewing lines. First you do the thread sewing between these line about a presser foot apart... Then couch the fun fur on the grid lines. Cut out the pattern , sew and walla... You can strut your stuff... Remember by clicking on the picture you can get a close up look at the garment and the model..

Yes, you can wear this in Indiana...More show and tell to come.. The Ol' Blogger

Cindy and Kathy surprised us all!!!

Cindy had made us all a "Chick Chat "made out of the fabric we got last year for traveling in the Hoffman Challenge. We have them around our necks.
A Chick Chat is a sewing chatelaine. There is a thread dispenser that allows you to pull thread off with one hand, a scissors leash for small scissors, a pocket to store them, thimble, and needle threader in. They are "darling".
In our hands are "Forkin Rooster Pin Cushion" to go along with The Forkin Family we are going to make. You guessed it...Kathy...she used the fabric from Hoffman Challenge for the body, beads for the comb, tape measure ribbon for the shank (leg) and large paper clips for the toes. She used Mike's hammer to beat and flatten out the paper clips for the toes just as she did with the forks.. If she keeps coming up with forkin creatures.... we may have to chip in and get her a hammer :<).
Cindy and Kathy had been conniving behind our backs to do this. We love them the animals and the girls. More later, The Ol' Blogger

Birthday

On Sept. 30 our Elder will be celebrating a high number birthday. I would tell but....she would send me an screeching email...:<) So as you can see we pleased her with an early gift. She was given a card that sang "We are Family" sign by her SoTA Sisters. The gift was a tree with Shoes hanging from it, which was from Hall Mark...She has a shoe fetish.

We gave it to her early because we were all together. We didn't know that we were going to plan another day of being together this month...But Cindy wanted to go see the movie "The Women" and of course we all were gun ho...So a week from tomorrow we are all going to the theater...Yea!!! Love to all, The Ol' Blogger

Fun Meter Fill Up For Sept

I have learned some neat things about the computer this week..so I will be adding color, and using some of what I have learned...The Ol' Blogger is growing..
What can I say....our Fun Meter run-nth over. First we would have been greeted by this lovely door hanging....had we not gone in through the garage due to rain :0) One can enlarge and get the full effect. Tony ( is a sweetheart) while on a shopping trip with his darling wife Rhona, he saw and bought this to greet us..He calls us the Stitchin Witches...Which is all in fun.. How great to have the men in our life think about us even when we are not all together... We are truly Loved..
He helped us carry all our supplies, goodies in and out.... Carried them downstairs for the older ones, brought us ice. Listen for the timer from the oven..to tell us when the chicken pot pie was done. Sent us home with a watermelon...Which Harold ( my loving husband) said to tell you thanks and it was the best he has had in a long time.... Tony was truly helpful. Thank you!! You made our day even more special!
I have much to share but for today I am only going to share the food.... Around the stitching tables we had two different dips and chips... One from Rhona and the other from Jody, girls, please, one of you help me out and post a comment with the names of these...I was to busy eating to pay attention when the names of these was spoken... Kathy made Fudge.... Which we ate our fair share of.....For lunch Rhona had prepared a Chicken Pot Pie that was delicious, I brought cornbread salad (Yes Harold, made the cornbread), we had fruit, watermelon grown by Tony and Rhona, an apple pie made by Cindy with apples from her own trees, yummy..
In the favorite words of our Kathy.. (we are amazed by her brain) " And A Good Time Was Had By All."
Love to all, The Ol' Blogger
