This is one of Kathy's favorite miniatures....It was English pieced...which means she hand cut the little papers, wrapped tiny pieces of fabric around each paper, basting each, then whip stitched the tiny hexagons together...The border is embroidered using a single strand of floss. This piece was entered into the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show a few years ago and won Honorable Mention. It hangs in her kitchen most of the time... As a side light...she adds...the figure at the bottom right is a bird her brother Scott carved from a piece of drift wood...He also made the bread box it's setting on...You can only see the top of the bread box.....But I can tell you it is beautiful....Which is not surprising...Kathy's whole family is very gifted...

Her work is incredible, every time we see something our remarks are usually OMG... Lucky us to have her in our lives
We are a group of women of different personalities and ages who blend together to make for an interesting and fun group. Our group is dedicated to creating art using various textiles and other mediums. Our interests include sewing, knitting, quilting, doll making, purse making, felting, beading, jewelry making, stained glass, glass blowing, glass fusing, mosaics, and altered books. We share our ideas and our time, to create items that are unusual, traditional and fun. Our fun meter is more important than our gas meter. We fill it at least once a month during our monthly meeting where we have show and tell to show projects we've completed, talk about new projects and share ideas. And the food!! As textile artists we are such lucky people. We find pleasure in simple things; the colors of hand-dyed fabrics, a spool of lustrous thread—we almost hyperventilate when we go through the door of a bead store! How fortunate we are to have passion to create and to achieve such satisfaction in what we do.
