Chair Make Over

Cindy found this chair at a yard sale for a quarter...it needed a lot of work..So she painted it and recovered the cushion and added some detail..
We found the perfect doll for the chair in Jody's house...but she didn't seem to want to let her stay in the chair, since the chair was going back to Cindy's house...hehehehehehe...So Cindy will be busy making her own too perch in this lovely chair...The Ol'Blogger

For those who don't  know she has Hosta's every where on her property and they are beautiful...

Jamani Sue

Jamani Sue named by Jody even before she had her completed. Sue is for her dear friend, who spun the wool to be used as dreadlocks for the hair of this magnificent pillar doll.. Jamani is Swahili translated in English for friend... She had been in the making for a short while..so it was nice to see her finally in her "Place of Honor" by Jody's large picture window... Of course Jody used African type fabric...and all the little details of bone beads etc. just add to her...The Ol' Blogger

August

Rhona made this August quilt for her year of quilt wall hanging...The watermelon reminds me of going to my Pappy's cabin on the river...we always had iced down cold watermelon after running the trout lines in August..usually from a close by farmers garden...The home grown ones are so much better ....

The Cathedral pillows in the rocker are my August and October UFO's...I made them for my oldest daughter Missy...She was pleased with them..it is the closes she is going to get to a Cathedral quilt from her Mother the Ol'Blogger.

We Do Use Our Stuff....

As promised here are the throw pillows Sherry was working on Friday at Kathy's...They are striped on one side and flowered on the other...What ever mood Sherry is in... will be the deciding factor for which side is up for the day. :-) These each go in a rocker on her front porch...

On the left is a picture of Sherry's Lizard she made when we were at
" The Farm" she wore it on Friday. It looks like it is crawling up her shirt...looks so real..

Midnight Chat....

These two ladies sit on a shelf in Jody's house strutting their stuff..Pattern by Elinor Peace Bailey..Most of her patterns make large dolls so Jody reduced the pattern by 50%. Jody makes dolls that always have lots of character...just like her they are always chic....With all the wanted details any lady could have..From here they have complete view of all the activities going on in her home. When midnight rows round they discuss the gossip from the day...They loved the days the SoTA Sisters visit as in makes for a very interesting midnight chat...
I know I am warped...hehehehehehehe The Ol'Blogger...

P.S. You can read and see the picture of the Fisherman hanging from the shelf on the posting "The Elder's Fisherman March 22,2010"

If Only the Lace Could Talk!!!!

Work in progress....The black embroidery work was on a fragile-partially gone black cape that  M.J. gave to Jody...M.J.'s mother got at it at an estate sale many years before..Jody has placed this on a piece of fabric and is going to frame in this frame..Wouldn't you love to hear the story's this lace could tell..."Perhaps it was wore by a Flapper named Mae from the early 1900's. She may have even wore it on one of her dates with the Infamous Chicago gangster Al Capone. Can't you just picture them entering a ballroom. And on that fate full night...during which a fight broke out he received a razor cut on his cheek, which gained him the nickname "Scarface." Oh, if only the lace could talk...

Icing on the Cake

Beginning...
Sherry and her family have been busting up rock and digging out dirt to lengthen her front porch...Even little sweet Ali is put to work by Granddad Greg...By the smile on her face I don't think she is taking him too serious..Kevin (their Son-In- Law) did a wonderful job on the concrete and helping with the railing...
Finished!!!!
Sherry made the cushions for the rockers. She got the fabric from Joann's which is outside fabric..
A front porch for ones home is like icing on the cake. Giving added flavor and beauty...It is really just a place to relax, read a good book, do some hand sewing or just spend some quality time enjoying the good ole' outdoors..And the fact that they did  all the work... will  make this comfortable porch even more special.
