Another found projects while looking for February UFO by Kathy....This pillow using some pieced blocks given to Kathy by MJ...and added to it....for that reason its name will be "MJ Pillow"....Now we all have those things we must keep, honor and enjoy. By making a pillow it won't be just stash a away. Kathy has found a way to display it and make it a part of her life. Sweet...The Ol'Blogger

Kathy's February UFO
Definition: Quilters have tagged a unique meaning onto the term UFO. They're not objects flying around in the sky (unless we toss them around because we aren't pleased with them)...A UFO is an Unfinished Object---the remnants of those quilts, and other items we started to make but never seem to finish..You'll find UFO'S tucked away in bins and baskets in each of our houses...
Kathy begin this UFO by starting the cross stitching almost 30 years ago...When making her list she added it......Although it was still in her head she wasn't quite sure where it was in her studio... While searching for it she found and finished two other UFO's although they were not on her list.....ugh......Kathy completed and turned her UFO into a pillow cover...One down....five to go....I would suggest maybe Kathy should stay with her list...hehehehehehe The Ol'Blogger

"Bowie Knives???
A rectangle of steel can become a lot of things....Sherry decided to make her grandsons and boys in her family each his own knife from her pieces...She cut these out on a band saw...A friend of hers used an end mill to put the edge on the knives...using polishing stones and emery paper she has cleaned and sanded all the imperfections out...She has worked on these for the last month instead of her UFO...giggle...but she will catch up I am sure...all that's needed is the deer antlers for handles....and these young men will have a treasure that would have Jim Bowie green with envy........The Ol'Blogger

Daisies.....
While hunting for her UFO project for February, Kathy, came across this table cloth she had started sometime back.....of course this was not her UFO on the list.....she got a little sidetracked....The inspiration came from a book by Valeria Wells...the daisies were from Nancy's Notions..looking at this beauty we all forgot about the snow outside...The Ol'Blogger

Cindy's Craftsmanship and February UFO
" lust and lure and the love of stain glass..While this cliche" is admittedly melodramatic...it nevertheless gives an accurate feel for the passion Cindy has for this craft...Last October this wall begin forming in her mind...not knowing how much glass she would need she guessed....purchasing at that time....when finished she had one whole piece left....:0) Kent built the wall to hold her beauties....Cindy found her inspiration in a 2"by 3" picture...knowing she wanted circles and some straight lines...she rummaged through her cabinets to find the right size circles in her kitchen ware...she says the two windows do not match perfectly in the middle..the amount off would have to be ever so slight...because we couldn't see it....
Pictured here is a piece Cindy finished from scraps for a niece's corner space of her stairway...Yes, there are empty spaces that is part of the design for this piece..
In the eyes of the SoTA sisters Cindy's skills and craftsmanship are unsurpassed..The Ol' Blogger

February Fun Meter Fill Up Meeting
February Fun Meter Fill Up Meeting was held yesterday at Cindy T. We were all to please to be together again...was short one...Rhona wasn't able to join us as she was visiting with her daughter...Cindy P gave a nice surprise and joined us for the day...
Cindy T. prepared Lasagna and French bread....Just an added note here...the heart table runner was created by Cindy....
Having gotten 9 inches of snow last week Kathy took a snow day from work...I believe we must have all watched the same show on TV as Kathy while snowed in. "Martha and Ben Ford Bake a Decadent Chocolate Pudding Cake"......only Kathy took it one step farther and made the peppermint cake and candies that was featured on Martha Stewards show that day for us...I must say it was delicious and made with no flour...She place whole peppermint candies about 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Transfer to oven and bake until melted, about 7 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheet. Garnish each piece with whipped cream and the peppermint candies...
Cindy T also made us Pink Meringue hearts....hmmmmm...melted in your mouth...We had a great time and I will be sharing pictures in the days to come.....Fun was had by all.....The Ol'Blogger

Orgami
Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding...Origami is a form of visual / sculptural representation that is defined primarily by the folding of the medium (usually paper).Never to do anything on a small scale..our Elder decides to use the folding technique with her altered books..These hang in her front room which makes a beautiful art display....Honestly there is nothing Jody can't do...and when she is done it is breathtaking ...The Ol'Blogger...

My February UFO
This year on the even months we each have named 6 UFO to finish...The one pictured is mine for February...My version of Rhona's Hankie Pankie Blankie she made for Tony...Harold is thrilled with his...
I finished this for all the suffering he has endured for me..He sleeps through the whir of the sewing machine at 3 a.m. He does very little complaining when needles punctures his feet as he shuffles barefoot through where ever I last was sewing to finish a project... Never do I complete the finishing touches in my studio:0)... He has assembled many discount storage cabinets, carted in different treasures I can't seem to live without...and prepared a meal or two..giggle...The Ol' Blogger

Bygone Romance
Memories of a bygone past created by a true craftswoman who wanted them to last...
that would be Kathy....by taking a plain cream color fabric and hand quilting...then adding fabric paint and allow it to do its thing as it wanted....using hand embroidery to add dimension and finally rusting it to give the look of age....she created this beauty... looking at this my mind begins to form pictures and smells of summers gone by...
Scents of flowers in the air with which we made crowns to wear in our hair...

Bill's Quilt
* Jody ("The Elder") quilted this for her husband. It is all done by hand...the piecing and quilting....I loved reminding her each year at Chocolate Night that she was still working on Bill's quilt...So it was with pleasure on her part to have me see this on his bed all finished..Beautiful Jody...The Ol' Blogger
